Caltech IST Annenberg Center
Project Description This project consisted of a new 50,000 square-foot three story building, designed to maximize the collaborative nature of the building. A two story lounge was designed to attract people from different research areas. Most offices and studios face an atrium that also spans two floors. This area functions as another informal gathering space. An outdoor area with electrical power, wireless access, and seating is used for receptions, impromptu discussions, and even small classes. All rooms in the building have sensors that save energy for heating & air conditioning and lighting. The project achieved a LEED Gold certification and is nicknamed the “Green Building”. It has natural air flows through the center of the building for energy-savings.
